Privacy Policy
This site, rickyradams.com, is the portfolio of Ricky Adams, a web developer in San Bernardino, California. This page explains what the site collects and why.
What I collect
Contact form. If you send a message, I collect your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message. The form also records the page you sent it from, any campaign tags in the link you arrived by, and a timestamp used to spot automated spam.
Visit data from my hosting provider. Like most sites, the server keeps standard logs, such as the pages requested, your IP address and your browser type, for security and troubleshooting.
Analytics, only if you accept. With your permission, I use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, and Inspectlet to see anonymous recordings of how pages are used. Inspectlet is set to hide everything typed into the contact form. If you decline, neither runs.
I do not run comments or user accounts, and I do not sell or share your personal information.
How I use it
Messages are used to reply to you and for nothing else. Analytics are used to improve the site.
Spam protection
The form checks for automated spam with a hidden field, a timing check and a limit on how often one visitor can send. The limit uses a scrambled version of your IP address, not the address itself. Your IP address is not saved with your message. The form does not use Google reCAPTCHA or any other third-party spam service.
How long I keep it
Messages are stored on this site and deleted automatically after 90 days. I may keep an email thread longer if we are working together. Server logs follow my hosting provider’s schedule. Analytics data follows the retention setting in my analytics account.
Cookies and your choices
When you first visit, a notice asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Your choice is saved in a small cookie so the notice does not keep appearing. If you accept, Google Analytics and Inspectlet set their own cookies and load. If you decline, they do not load and no analytics cookies are set. Analytics also stay off if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, and for signed-in site administrators. You can change your mind by clearing this site’s cookies, which brings the notice back.
Who receives your data
Your message is delivered to my email. If you accept analytics, Google (Analytics) and Inspectlet receive usage data under their own privacy policies. My hosting provider processes server logs. That is all.
Links to LinkedIn and GitHub leave this site, and those services have their own policies.
Your rights
You can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. California residents have additional rights under California law. Because I do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of. Send a request through the contact page.
Contact
